Welcome to Knocknon cottage

Situated in the peaceful and scenic village of Balmaclellan in the beautiful Glenkens area of South West Scotland, Knocknon is a 130 year old traditional stone Galloway cottage.  New for 2014 and recently refurbished and renovated, Knocknon provides holiday accommodation for up to four people and up to two well behaved dogs. This self-catering holiday cottage has one double and one twin bedroom.  Parking is available outside the property and in a small car park next to the cottage.

Approximately 1.5 miles from New Galloway on the edge of the Galloway Forest Park - the UK's first dark sky area, Balmaclellan provides a perfect base to experience the delights that this unspoilt area has to offer - fantastic countryside, cycling, walking, wildlife watching, watersports, museums, historical sites, the Scottish Dark Sky Observatory, beautiful gardens and beaches.  The surrounding towns of Castle Douglas, Newton Stewart and Kirkcudbright - each with their own character - are all within reach.  Please visit the links page for more information.

Balmaclellan has village shop next to the little car park which is open every day selling a wide range of items including organic and local produce. Just 100m away from Knocknon is a small enclosed playground.  The mobile post office visits three times week and the fish van visits once a week.  The village is also home to the last company in Scotland that still makes handmade clogs and shoes and, at the village church opposite Knocknon, a statue of "Old Mortality" - after whom Sir Walter Scott entitled one of his novels.
